Creative Regions : Creative Economies - A mini-conference exploring creativity, enterprise and place

Creative industries have the potential to impact upon local economies. This can be both directly by generating productivity
and employment, and more indirectly by stimulating the visitor economy and generating 'spillover' of ideas and knowledge.

Creative industries can also have a beneficial impact upon skills, place-making and regeneration.

The importance of education, training and creativity to the 'Smart Economy' is a given. Globalisation and technological advances are continuously changing the business environment and demand for skills in virtually all countries. As knowledge and creativity increasingly  become the basis of competition, high skill levels are vitally important to economic performance and living standards.

County Louth has a vibrant  creative sector and the region has a growing reputation for creativity, excellence and innovation which has the potential to grow and benefit everyone living and working here. This mini-conference will look at how other regions have supported their creative industries and how we in County Louth and its surrounding  region can learn from them.
Our keynote speaker will be Damini Kumar, Ireland's Ambassador for the European Year of Creativity and Innovation 2009.

When: Thursday 5 November; 9.30am - 1.00pm

Where: The D Hotel, Drogheda

Price: Attendance is free but registration is essential.
